Slightly blurry close up of a flame in a hearth.

Touch

Shift legs, spar

Under the hardwood bench

Jitter, our legs touching

A molecule apart

I hide a shudder

Above disguised

As cool blue eyes

Catch one another

A subtle smile

We both know better

Move my leg away

You move closer

I stutter. Putting my arm down

Brush past and advance

Our skin touching

At a glance

Just two people

Not together. Not apart

I recant. Shift my weight

And break a hasty escape

Before I become again

Entranced

by your subtle voice

and deadly dance

Two envelopes and a postcard lying on a wooden table with flowers scattered around.

The Letter

I left you standing at the gates to perdition,
then wondered why I was empty and alone
to me you are the king who gave his soul
and saved humanity from sin
The rest of me is left wondering
where have I been?
My answer: lost in a land so empty
it is sad. I understand now
what I did was bad.
I left you, alone in a world;
A world that reviled us like Nazi gold.
I cannot come back now
everything is dead. You were our leader.
And with my selfish greed
I destroyed everything I need
without you I am so empty and alone
be honest now did you ever.
Love me at all?
